As part of this month's Showcase Sunday, we are thrilled to highlight a rare and charming piece of agricultural history: the Farmall F-14. Introduced in 1938 as a more powerful successor to the F-12, the F-14 quickly became a workhorse on farms across the globe. Designed for serious farm tasks, this tractor was built to pull a two-furrow plough and featured adjustable rear wheel spacing, making it versatile enough to handle a wide range of field crops.
Between 1938 and 1939, over 27,000 units of the F-14 were produced, and this particular model is likely one of the later builds, based on its serial number. It’s a wonderful example of its era, with many of the original features still intact, offering a rare glimpse into agricultural innovation of the time.

A Distinctive Design
What makes this F-14 stand out from others is its wide front axle. While most F-14s were fitted with a row-crop front axle, characterised by the tricycle-style configuration with the wheels positioned closely together, this model features a more traditional wide front axle. This gives the tractor a strikingly different and more stable appearance, making it an interesting variant within the F-14 lineup.
Designed primarily for inter-row crops, the F-14 was equipped with a practical steering brake system. When turning sharply, one of the wheels would brake, helping to make tighter, more efficient turns — a clever feature that would have made a significant difference in day-to-day farming operations at the time.

Performance and Durability
Powered by a 4-cylinder petrol/tvo engine, this F-14 starts effortlessly with the handle and runs smoothly, a testament to the durability and engineering quality of the machine. The tractor still retains its period hydraulic lift.
This F-14 has been upgraded with rubber tyres, all in excellent condition, ensuring a far smoother ride compared to the original steel wheels. While this update adds a modern touch, it doesn’t detract from the vintage feel of the machine. In fact, it enhances the tractor’s usability for those who enjoy using it for work or display.

This Farmall F-14 is not just a piece of machinery; it’s a reminder of a time when farming was at the heart of industry, and every piece of equipment was built to last and serve multiple generations. Whether you're a collector, an enthusiast, or someone with an appreciation for vintage tractors, the F-14 remains an iconic and functional piece of history.
