The Hart-Parr 12-24 is one of the most desirable and collectable tractors from the early 20th century. Its smaller size and lighter weight make it a fantastic option for enthusiasts looking to transport it easily to rallies and shows. This particular Hart-Parr 12-24 has been part of a local collection and has been meticulously restored to a high standard. The paintwork is in excellent condition, and to enhance its performance and comfort, rubber strakes have been added to the wheels, allowing for smoother movement on hard ground.

We’ve recently recommissioned the tractor, and it runs like a charm. The engine starts easily, runs smoothly, and drives well in all gears. Currently, the tractor is running on a Lucas magneto, but the correct Robert Bosch 2-cylinder magneto will be supplied once it returns from repair, ensuring authenticity and optimal performance.

Originally built in Charles City, Iowa, USA, between 1924 and 1930, the Hart-Parr 12-24 was priced at $1,050 when it first came to market. According to its serial plate, this particular tractor is one of the very last models ever made, making it even more unique and special for collectors.

Technical Specifications

The Hart-Parr 12-24 is a two-cylinder tractor with a 5.5-inch bore and a 6.5-inch stroke, running at a maximum of 850 RPM. It features a two-speed transmission for forward motion and one reverse speed, along with a dry clutch. The tractor is equipped with an automotive-type coolant radiator (non-pressurized) and uses water as its coolant, with an air cleaner for added engine efficiency.

The later version, the 12-24 H, introduced several upgrades, including a new three-speed forward transmission with a road gear of 4.3 mph, improved pistons for better compression, and enhanced gasoline efficiency. The larger platform and extended fenders were also added for operator safety, improving the overall usability of the tractor.

In 1929, the rear wheel spokes were updated to a flat type, and although the heavy cast front wheels were standard, flat spokes for the front wheels were also available. The tractor could also be equipped with hard rubber tyres, and a power take-off assembly was an optional feature, adding versatility for various tasks.

The frame of the Hart-Parr 12-24 is constructed from structural steel components, riveted together, with the engine, transmission, and other key parts bolted to the frame, showcasing the durability and craftsmanship of its era.

A Truly Unique Tractor

This Hart-Parr 12-24 is more than just a tractor; it's a piece of agricultural history that stands as a testament to the ingenuity of early 20th-century engineering. It would make a fantastic addition to any collection and is sure to be a conversation starter at shows and rallies.
