Caterpillar D2 Crawler

Caterpillar D2 Crawler

Tamar Vintage Tractors - 1941 Cat D2 Crawler

*Now Sold*

The Caterpillar D2 was in production between 1938 and 1957. It was the smallest diesel-powered tracked tractor produced by Caterpillar at that time. The D2 was equipped with 5 forward gears and one reverse gear and was fitted with an inline 4-cylinder diesel engine which is started with a 2 Cyclinder Petrol 'Donkey Engine'

This Crawler has been sat in a large collection for many years and has just been brought back to life!

The Donkey engine is pull-start, it starts easily and is strong runner.

The diesel engine takes a moment to crank over and warm up, but runs very clean and pulls very well.

It drives well, the hand clutch engages nicely and the steering brakes and clutches work correctly.

The tracks and sprockets are both in excellent order.

The crawler could do with a seat cushion as this one is missing, but overall its ready for some fun.

We've really enjoyed driving it around, they are simple and nimble little crawler with much charm!
