Ford 4000
Tamar Vintage Tractors - Ford 4000
The Ford 4000 was produced between 1962 and 1975. It was a top-selling tractor in the late 1960s and offers an excellent first tractor for new buyers today.
This is a really nice example of an early Pre-Force 4000. Being an early production, it features the 2 short gear-levers, unlike the later models that had a long main gear lever and a shorter lever for low and high range.
It starts well from cold and runs and drives nicely. The PTO and hydraulics are all functioning as they should.
It is fitted with the desirable ‘double acting spool valve’ that allows the operation of a ram or implement to work independently of the hydraulic lift and allows for a flow of oil in either direction.
It also features the earlier style handbrake that locks the brake pedals down, rather than a separate handbrake lever.
The tyres are good all round and the tin work is sound and straight throughout, however some surface rust is visible on the wings and bonnet.
This is a really lovely example that has already passed through our hands earlier this year, only returning as the previous owner took a shine to rather nicely restored David Brown!
In all a great example of an early 4000, ready to work or play!
