Ford 5000 Select-O-Speed
Tamar Vintage Tractors - Ford 5000 Select-O-Speed
This is a very genuine, original example of the Ford 5000 Select-O-Speed.
The Select-O-Speed transmission was introduced by Ford in 1959 and allows for 10 forward speeds and two reverse speeds without the need for a clutch, instead, it is fitted with an ‘inching peddle’ to allow for manoeuvring, effectively operating as a semi-automatic system.
Initial teething problems with the Select-O-Matic system meant that many farmers converted their Fords back to a manual operation, which has made these ‘in-tact’ models considerably rare.
This particular Ford runs well and has been fitted with a later engine block.
The tinwork is in excellent condition throughout.
The tyres are good and it is conveniently fitted with a pick-up hitch.
A cab frame and roof are also included in the sale of this tractor.
Based in Tavistock, Devon. Part exchanges are welcome.
