Ford Ferguson 9N
Tamar Vintage Tractors - Ford Ferguson 9N
This Ford-Ferguson 9N tractor is from the early 1940s. It was produced before the Ferguson T-20 as part of a joint venture between Ford and Ferguson. The tractor spent much of its working life in Canada before being brought to the UK.
It features a Sherman step-up transfer box, which provides a second set of gear ratios. This allows the tractor to reach speeds of up to 16 miles per hour on the road.
The tractor is also accompanied by an early Ford 2-furrow plough. These ploughs differ from the grey Ferguson ploughs, as they feature a cast headstock rather than metal plates.
The previous owner has gone over the tractor mechanically, and it runs wonderfully. The tractor has been repainted in the past, with the chassis being painted red. This is a common practice, often done to give older models the appearance of later models like the Ford 8N and beyond.
On the road, the tractor drives very well and is impressively quick for an early Ford-Ferguson. The brakes are effective, the steering is responsive, and the hydraulics are in good working order.
It’s a fantastic little setup, ideal for taking to a working day rally or similar events.
