Hart-Parr 12-24 H

Tamar Vintage Tractors - Hart-Parr 12-24 H

*Now Sold*

The Hart-Parr 12-24 is a highly desirable and collectable tractor. Due to its smaller size and lighter weight, it can easily be transported by trailer to rallies and shows. This particular tractor has been part of a local collection and has been restored to a high standard. The paintwork is in excellent condition, and rubber strakes have been added to the wheels, making it easier and more comfortable to move on hard ground.

We have recently recommissioned the tractor. The engine starts easily, runs smoothly, and drives well in all gears. Currently, it is running on a Lucas magneto; however, the correct Robert Bosch 2-cylinder magneto will be supplied once it is back from repair.

Built in Charles City, Iowa, USA between 1924-1930, the Hart-Parr 12-24 would have originally sold for $1,050. According to the serial plate, this tractor is one of the very last tractors made.

The Hart-Parr 12-24 is a two-cylinder tractor with a 5.5-inch bore and a 6.5-inch stroke, running at a maximum of 850 RPM. It has a two-speed transmission for forward motion and one reverse speed, a dry clutch, and an automotive-type coolant radiator (non-pressurized). The tractor uses water as coolant and is equipped with an air cleaner.

The 12-24 H, the latest version, introduced a new three-speed forward transmission with a road gear of 4.3 mph, improved pistons for higher compression, and better gasoline efficiency. A larger platform and fenders extending down to the platform boards were added for operator safety.

In 1929, the rear wheel spokes were updated to a flat type, and flat spokes were also available for the front wheels, though the heavy cast front wheels were standard. The 12-24 models could be equipped with hard rubber tyres, and a power take-off assembly was an optional feature.

The tractor’s frame is built from structural steel components, riveted together, with the engine, transmission, and other parts bolted to the frame.

This is a really interesting piece of agricultural history which would be a real talking point at shows and rallies.
