International Super BWD6
Tamar Vintage Tractors - International Super BWD6
*Now Sold*
The Super BWD6 was built at the International Harvesters Doncaster plant in England as the first UK-built model, rather than a UK-assembled machine built from imported parts. It was based on the American-produced W6 and fitted with a 3-point lift and a 4-cylinder, 50 hp diesel engine.
It was built between 1954 and 1958, with just over 5500 units produced, making them quite rare.
This tractor is Devon-registered. We do not have the V5, but it's showing as live on the DVLA website and will be easily obtained.
Like all Internationals, it requires heat from cold, but it starts and runs well and has a good turn of speed on the road. The brakes are good too.
The steering does have some play in it, which was common on these models.
The bonnet and nose cone are nice and straight. There is some surface rust on the fuel tank and on the bonnet, but the tractor does have a nice "aged" look to it.
The rear wings have been repaired in the past, and the rear tyres have good tread, but they are showing some cracks in the side walls.
The 3-point linkage is in full working order.
We owned and enjoyed this tractor for a while, and during our ownership, we've given it a good service and enjoyed using it for various jobs around the farm!
