The Massey Harris 44 Row-Crop was produced in Wisconsin, USA between 1947 – 1953. 
 
They can often be found in the UK as a 744 badged diesel tractor fitted with the Perkins P6 engine, which makes this Petrol/TVO variant quite a rare find in the UK.
 
This American tractor found its way over to the UK and was first registered in 1948. Interestingly this tractor still has its original logbook, along with the owner’s manual and a new style V5.
 
It features a Petrol/TVO engine, electric start and unlike many tractors of the year it features a more modern ‘coil and distributor’ arrangement, rather than a magneto. 
 
It starts very easily and runs well. It drives well on the road and has a good turn of speed and benefits from ‘as new’ tyres on each corner.
 
The engine block and manifold are free from any signs of frost damage.
 
This tractor has benefited from an older restoration which has mellowed nicely, it is a lovely example of this more unusual Massey Harris and would be a lovely choice to take to shows and rallies.
